Give a Pint. Get a pint.
Lane Blood Center would like to give a big thank you to Hop Valley Brewing for partnering with us on Give a pint. Get a pint. from December 10 through January 17. We also need to thank long time blood donor Dan Ertel for arranging the partnership. His idea and Hop Valley’s willingness to participate garnered 188 more units of life-saving blood during this time frame than were collected the previous year. Keep in mind this is normally the most difficult time of year to collect enough blood. We also saw 309 donors for the very first time!
Give a pint. Get a pint. spread through our social media channels too getting us 20 new facebook fans in just the first week. Donors were liking the promotion and sharing it with their friends daily. We also saw an increase in twitter followers and retweets. Beer for blood must be a popular idea.
One group that found Give a pint. Get a pint. particularly appealing was the Eugene Active 20/30 Club. They used the idea to hold an extremely successful blood drive last night where 43 people came to donate blood, 16 for the first time. They publicized the drive so well it even gained local media attention including a story in the Eugene Weekly. Thank you, Eugene Active 20/30 club for your efforts and your life-saving blood.
Hop Valley owners say the partnership has helped to boost their business as well. Blood donors are coming in daily to redeem their free pint vouchers and often staying to enjoy a meal. This should continue for sometime since over 2300 people participated in Give a pint. Get a pint. Hop Valley owner Ron Howard says “Hop Valley has been very proud to be a part of this promotion and a partner with Lane Blood Center.” There are already talks of doing this again next year.
Thanks again to Dan, Hop Valley and everyone who participated in Give a pint. Get a pint. It was a huge success!
