Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s important to generate awareness for this disease because 1 in 8 women will battle it in her lifetime. According to American Cancer Society there are currently 2.6 million breast cancer survivors in the US. With statistics like this it’s more than likely that you know someone who has fought or is fighting breast cancer.

Many cancer patients use blood products at some point during their treatment so Lane Blood Center donors help in the fight against cancer every day, often without even realizing it.

Nancy Trautman is one of those cancer patients currently using blood products.  She’s also a breast cancer survivor.  Watch her story here:

Lane Blood Center will be joining the fight against breast cancer later this month at Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure with a blood drive and educational booth.
