National Blood Donor Month

Categories: Uncategorized

NBDM-logocolor9January is National Blood Donor Month, and we at Lane Blood Center would like to take this opportunity to celebrate the lifesaving contributions blood and platelet donors make to modern healthcare.

Our donors gave more than 22,300 units of blood in 2013. Because each unit of blood can help save three lives, that represents a potential 66,900 lives saved.

We can’t think of a better way to start the new year than donating blood.

It is no coincidence that National Blood Donor Month falls in January. Winter can be a difficult time for blood donations because of cold and flu season, inclement weather and various activities surrounding the holiday season.

Each appointment made and kept, and each unit of blood or platelets given, may offer hope to a patient in need.
